Music Motif Show Jurors - 2013
This year’s jurors are Matt Vashlishan, Susan Frantz and Sylvestre Leon.

  • Matt Vashlishan is a freelance jazz musician and educator.  Matt has performed with and/or collaborated with many notable artists such as Phil Woods, Dave Liebman, Bruce Hornsby, Patty Austin and many large ensembles including Charles Tolliver Big Band and the Florida Pops. He is the COTA CampJazz Education Coordinator.  He holds a DMA in Saxophone Performance from the University of Miami, a Master’s of Performance from William Patterson University, and a Bachelor’s of Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
  • Susan Frantz has taught art to every grade level, K-12, in the Stroudsburg School District for the past 26 years.  She teaches a wide variety of medias to her students and helps spark their creative spirits. An accomplished oil painter herself, she will bring her experience and trained eye to the jury process.  A Kripalu trained yoga instructor, Susan has been practicing yoga for 15 years and teaching for 11 years.
  • Sylvestre Leon paints in an abstract style that is infused with his personal spirit and deep roots in his native land of Haiti. In his words, "what lives in my heart, lives in my art.”  After his first successful showing at The World Trade Center's Corner Gallery, Leon went on to exhibit at the Algonquin Hotel, the Marlen  and Abney Galleries in Soho, to name a few.  His focus has since shifted to the business side of the art world by opening Take Two Gallery in Pennsylvania, Emergence Gallery in Atlanta, and World Universe Gallery in New York.  Sylvestre's current venture, Zen Fusion Restaurant & Lounge, located in Delaware Water Gap, is a culmination of cultural experiences through visual, functional, and edible art.  The fusion of Haitian and Asian cultures is represented in the cuisine, and ambiance of the space.
